Copper Canyon
Copper Canyon, Mexico, where I escape the 20th & 21st centuries in a stupendous wild place, complete with hot springs.
I first went to the bottom of "Copper Canyon" for Christmas and New Years 1984-5 on the recommendation of Fred Hopman of Taos, NM, where I lived from 1974-8. Thanks, Freddie! All these hikes started at Divisadero or nearby Areponapuchi.
I'm now doing guide work in the area, specializing in backpack tours to the 2 hot springs you can see in the photos below. These are only for STRONG backpackers with LIGHTWEIGHT gear, and take a minimum of 4 nights for a loop by both hot springs or a minimum of 2 nights for just one. Contact info is above.

Taos
Taos, NM, where I learned juggling, grew food, and built and documented solar houses.
My first trip out west ended up in Taos in April of 1970. It was still the wild west. Hippie nudist California refugees were freaking out proper Catholic Latinos, whose crazy nephews were shooting at hippie buses. When some hippies shot back, I left town, being 18 and a vulnerable hitch-hiker out on those lonely roads.
