Alaska voter registration

- In Person: 30 days before Election Day.
- By Mail: Postmarked at least 30 days before Election Day.
- Online: 30 days before Election Day.
To register in Alaska you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States;
- Be at least 18 years old within 90 days of completing your registration;
- Be a resident of Alaska;
- Not be a convicted of certain felonies (unless unconditionally discharged from incarceration, probation and/or parole); and
- Not be registered to vote in another state.
1. Use our Register to Vote Tool to fill out the National Voter Registration Form.
2. Sign and date your form. This is very important!
3. Mail or hand-deliver your completed form to the address we provide.
4. Make sure you register before the voter registration deadline.

Alaska absentee ballots

- In Person: Received 10 days before Election Day.
- By Mail: Received 10 days before Election Day.
- Online: Received 10 days before Election Day.
1. Use our Absentee Ballot Tool to prepare your application.
2. Sign and date the form. This is very important!
3. Return your completed application to your Local Election Office as soon as possible. We'll provide the mailing address for you.
4. All Local Election Offices will accept mailed or hand-delivered forms. Your Local Election Office will also let you fax or email the application.
5. Double-check the deadlines and be sure to cast your voted ballot on time to be sure it is counted.
6. Please contact your Local Election Office if you have any further questions about the exact process.
1. Once you receive the ballot, carefully read and follow the instructions.
2. Sign and date the affidavit where indicated.
3. Have a witness sign your ballot to verify your signature.
4. Return your voted ballot back to the address indicated on the return envelope with the appropriate amount of postage.
5. Double-check the deadlines and be sure to cast your voted ballot on time to be sure it is counted.

Alaska Early Voting

Alaska voter ID

If you are voting in person in Alaska, you must present one of the following forms of ID when you vote:
- Driver's license or state ID
- Voter ID Card
- Birth Certificate
- Military ID
- Passport
- Hunting or fishing license
- Any other current and valid photo ID
- A current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other document issued by the government with the name and current address of the voter
An election official may waive the ID requirement if an Election Day official can vouch for your identity, unless you are voting in Alaska for the first time, registered to vote by mail, and didn't provide ID when you registered.
If you're not voting for the first time in Alaska, or provided a copy of your ID when you registered, you don't need to provide ID to vote by mail, but you will need to sign your ballot in the presence of a witness.
If you're voting for the first time in Alaska, registered by mail, and didn't provide a copy of your ID when you registered, then attach a copy of one of the following with your completed absentee ballot:
- Driver's license, state ID card, birth certificate, passport, hunting or fishing license, or another current photo ID
- Utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows your name and address
