What exactly is a caucus?

The Iowa Caucuses will take place on Feb. 3, 2020. Caucuses are different than elections — they’re more like neighborhood meetings.

The Feb. 3, 2020 caucuses start at 7 PM sharp. Once the event starts, late-comers will not be allowed in. Caucuses can last several hours, but you are allowed to leave at any point.

The Democratic Party and Republican Party caucus separately. You must be registered to the party for which you are caucusing, and reside in the precinct where you are caucusing.

If you are not registered to a party or are registered to a different party, you can still caucus. You can change your party registration at your precinct caucus.

To find your precinct’s caucus location, first determine which voting precinct you are in. Then, find the party caucus location within that precinct.
