Vote.org Applauds Supreme Court’s Decision to Uphold Birthright Citizenship

Published on June 30, 2026

Vote.org CEO Andrea Hailey issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court's decision today in Trump v. Barbara, upholding birthright citizenship.

"The Constitution is unambiguous: people born on U.S. soil are indeed American citizens and deserve all the rights and protections that come with that citizenship, including the right to vote. We’re relieved that the Supreme Court rejected the effort to dismantle this bedrock principle.

"Today's decision protects the birthright of countless Americans and the idea that citizenship—and the full participation in our democracy that it guarantees—cannot be stripped away by executive order. At Vote.org, we will keep working to ensure that every American can exercise the right to vote that flows from birthright citizenship."
