If you are registering for the first time, you should plan on showing “proof of identification” the first time you vote. Proof of identification includes: (1) A current and valid photo identification or (2) A current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or government document that
shows your name and address.

Rhode Island General Law 17-1-3 allows an individual who has missed the voter registration deadline to register and vote for President/Vice-President only at their local Board of Canvassers on election day. This is only applicable for elections in which the office of President of the United States in on the ballot.
